Government of Canada

The primary challenge in creating a visual identity for Canada is the representation of the Canadian identity without neglecting any part of the ever-growing diversity encompassed within that identity. For this reason the visual identity has to necessarily be somewhat neutral, but not be so neutral as to be meaningless or neglect to express the compelling story of Canada.

This design is inspired by classic pieces of Canadian graphic design such as the Montreal Olympics and Allan Fleming’s CN logo. This allows for visuals that are connected to an identifiable part of Canadian heritage, without leaning on old tropes, and also serves to express the value of modern Canadian culture.
